BMSIT Eligibility Criteria for B.E. Admissions 2026
Students seeking admission to the B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering) program at BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT), Bengaluru must satisfy the eligibility requirements prescribed by the Government of Karnataka, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), and the institution. Admission is offered through KCET, COMEDK UGET, and the Management Quota.
Academic Eligibility
Candidates must have:
Passed 2nd PUC (Class 12) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Studied at least one of the following as an optional subject:
Chemistry
Computer Science
Biotechnology
Biology
Electronics
Studied English as one of the languages in the qualifying examination.
Minimum Marks Required
To be eligible for B.E. admission, candidates should have secured:
45% aggregate marks in the optional subjects (Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject) for General Category candidates.
40% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to the reserved categories of Karnataka, as per the applicable government norms.
Management Quota Eligibility
Students applying through the Management Quota must satisfy the basic academic eligibility mentioned above. Additionally, BMSIT’s current admission norms generally expect candidates to have around 60% marks in the qualifying examination for management quota admissions. Actual admission depends on seat availability and the institution’s guidelines.
Entrance Exams Accepted
BMSIT accepts admissions through the following channels:
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) – For Karnataka quota seats.
COMEDK UGET – Open to students from all states in India.
Management Quota – Direct admission based on eligibility and seat availability.

A Karnataka domicile is not required for these admission routes. Non-Karnataka students are generally required to submit a Migration Certificate during the admission process if they have completed their qualifying examination outside the Karnataka Pre-University Board.

High-demand branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML), and Information Science and Engineering (ISE) usually have higher competition due to limited seats.
